Our touchline chats

31 March 2009

Jim spends most of the football game, or at least when watching Son Number Two, chatting to a fellow parent about music. Their conversations mean nothing to me as I’m far too young to know of the music of which they speak and some of the technical jargon also goes over my head.

However, where I could help was by pointing our friend towards our discount codes. He tells us he has bought from Push Posters, who sell music prints and posters, amongst other on line shops in the past, but wasn’t aware of where he could find codes to save him money! Push Posters have a new code for April giving 10% off, which I’m sure would be handy. The new code is APR394 and can be used right up to the end of April.

Teaching an old dog new tricks

27 March 2009

My Nan is finding it harder to cope with and take in anything different. It really distresses her as she has nothing to refer back to to try and make sense of what is now happening. Today she was ready and waiting for me to take her to the Post Office to pay her electricity bill. It didn’t need paying; it was a statement saying she was in credit and showing the payments Mum had set up to go out of the bank. Read more

Time to buy Sat Nav?

25 March 2009

We have bought a new car and are just waiting for it to be built. We had great fun adding bits and bobs on and thus increasing the price by a couple of thousand! One option was Sat Nav; a touchy, feely screen that looked to sexy not to have. The cost? A mere £1000!!! Luckily for us the lovely salesman told us it simply wasn’t worth it! Yes, a car salesman who was honest and stopped us giving him £1000! Unheard of! We naturally took his advice, especially as it meant that we could have the DAB radio, which will allow us to listen to the football on Radio 5. Oh, and it saved us money too, of course!

Actually, I have resisted Sat Nav for a very long time. Jim is now wondering why I’m interested. The truth is because I am dreadful at finding my way to anywhere. Even local places leave me with a mental blank on how to get there. Thankfully a portable one will not have to cost me £1000. Halfords have some great deals here from less than £100. The offers are constantly changing and definitely worth a lok at if your also in the market for Sat nav.

I feel a nudge at their website is in order for my birthday!
