OMG. I have started my Christmas shopping!

22 September 2008

Each and every year I moan as much and as loudly as possible to as many people who are unfortunate enough to be in earshot about Christmas beginning in September. However, this year I find myself buying presents and browsing through Christmas merchandise already. I have just bought the Fifa 2009 game for the PS3. Buying the latest Fifa game is the law in this house, so it’s a safe buy, although it isn’t due for release until 3rd October. It’s available from most retailers, but I got ours from Play.com for £39.99 with free delivery.
Other stockists include:
Simply Games Ltd - £39 - free delivery
Gameseek - £39.97 + P&P

This weekend we had a catalogue through the post from leukaemia research with lots of great Christmas ideas. We chose to donate to leukaemia research last year rather than send Christmas cards. I think we’ll be doing the same again this year as well as buying a few bits and pieces from their online shop.

Goodmans 19inch LCD TV

13 September 2008

GOODMANS LD1945WD from CometWe bought this TV from Comet last weekend for my eldest son’s room. We had looked at other TVs, but this seemed to be excellent value for money for a 19 inch LCD TV. It has built in freeview and is also HD ready. Set up was simple (once I had read the instructions!) and the picture and sound are perfectly adequate for a bedroom TV. My son has played on his PS2 on it without any complaints.

The TV is available from both Comet and Laskys for £179.99 and £172.99 respectively. It looks great and at this price is a good TV for your bedroom. Click here to see the TV in our shop.

Christmas is here…

12 September 2008

I complain about this every year; Christmas being promoted from September. The first signs were in a pub we went to at the weekend for a meal. There in full view was a table decorated with ‘presents’ advertising their Christmas menu. It nearly put me off my dinner! The supermarkets are also quietly bringing tins of chocolates and other Christmas goodies in, but I don’t doubt that they’ll be less subtle in a week or so and have Jingle Bells playing and aisles full of tinsle and crackers. Our local Dunhelm Mill is not so subtle though. I called in to collect some new cushions and came away with a 2009 diary and was seriously tempted by the Christmas cards, wrapping paper and crackers! I must be going mad! In fact it prompted me to make my Christmas cake, which I know I need to make early, but somehow keep forgetting to do it. Not this year. It is made and will be fed with brandy until 25th December. I can’t wait to try it! I might have to make a few mince pies this weekend!

Look here for my Christmas cake recipe or here for other recipies such as mince pies and yule log.
