Pick a Card…
23 January 2008
With Valentine’s day, Mother’s Day and Easter all so close together this year most of us have the need to buy a card or two. We have some ‘Big’ birthdays in this house too; namely a 40th and a 50th, but I’m not saying which of our relatives is celebrating! With this in mind I have been looking for cards and found that Yodoo.com have so many to choose from. Having used them before I know that the cards are excellent quality and compared to high street stores they are inexpensive. A bog standard card can be bought for 25p nowadays and I confess using these for children’s friend’s birthdays, but for grown ups and special occasions it’s nice to receive something that has obviously had some thought put into it.
What I think is good with Yoodo.com is that you can add your own touches to the outside of the card as well as entering your own verse. In fact there’s space for a message on the right and left hand-side of the inside of the card, so you can really go to town. If verse isn’t your forte, don’t worry, you can add as simple happy birthday or congratulations because the card itself can say it all.
Once you’ve chosen your card and added your personal touches, Yoodoo.com will post the card back to or post straight to the recipient, which is great if you’re running short on time. Buy, design and send the card from the comfort of your home in minutes!

Car Insurance ; this is a first
22 January 2008
I knew that the insurance for my car was due for renewal, so I’d already searched and as I’d expected found that the cost had gone up. This is thanks to the bump I had last year, which is going to cost me for a few years. I won’t even mention the Drive Assist complaint, which left me (temporarily) £155 down. You can see more here if you really want to know!
I always shop around for our insurance using Go Compare, which searches all the insurers for you without you having to input all your details over and over. By doing this I usually make a substantial saving, but not so this year. I had my renewal through and it’s way below the cheapest quote I had received. However, this is the first time in many years that this has happened and I won’t be lured in to the trap of renewing before I’ve compared. It hasn’t necessarily made things nay easier, because changing insurers is so simple, but it’s good to now that on this occassion customer loyalty has meant something.
Sky + : is it worth it?
22 January 2008
We have had Sky for many years now and had considered Sky + for a long time. Jim was more interested than me. I couldn’t see the point of it at all. If we miss a programme, we miss it. It’s not the end of the world. I put my foot down for a long time. Meanwhile Jim researched and found the Topfield digital recorder to be as close to Sky + as he could find.
The Topfield PVR will give you all the Freeview TV stations as well as all the radio stations and has over 100 hours of recording capacity on it’s hard drive and records two programmes simultaneously. It also pauses live TV. All for approximately £200 and nothing else to pay. It even upgrades itself when required at night, if you go to bed and leave it on standby and the Topfield people even have their own website with a forum for other users which can be very helpful.
