The toothbrush really works!
16 June 2008
A year ago I spent rather a lot on a new toothbrush. Read here about my new purchase! My toothbrush is the Oral B Triumph 9000, which is pretty much the same as this one. It has 4 settings: clean, massage, soft and polish. I use the polish once a week with Colgate weekly clean toothpaste.
The toothbrush has never caused me any problems and continues to be simple to use. It has a travel case, which is excellent for transporting the toothbrush, which has remained charged for a whole week with no problems. However, the best bit is that my teeth are officially cleaner! We visited the dentist on Friday and yet again I don’t need any treatment. Hurray! I used to have a scale and polish every visit. I hated them more than any other treatment and found it so uncomfortable that I had to have local anaesthetic. I can’t tell you how pleased I am not to need this doing. I asked the dentist (just to be sure, or a glutton for punishment) and she confirmed that there was no need unless I ‘really wanted it’! I don’t think so!
The toothbrushes are expensive when compared to manual toothbrushes, but for the peace of mind and avoiding the dreaded scale and polish, for me anyway, it’s worth every penny.

The perfect family get-together
19 February 2008
If like us you have a large family and would like a place to stay where you can all be together for a special occasion then we can recommend Milton Brook Estate near to Chester. We needed a venue for Jim’s 50th celebration and were struggling to find somewhere where the whole family; 31 in total, could stay. The age range for us was 5 to 85 and so it was important to find something for everyone. Milton Brook took some finding, but it ticked all the boxes and more. Read more
Disneyland Paris for teenagers?
19 February 2008
This half term we all set off for Disneyland in Paris. Our boys are now 13 and 11 and I did wonder if the park might be a little young for them. The answer in short was no. They had no interest in the various characters that are scattered around the park and in the hotels. Nor were they interested in the Disney parades, which for the littlies are truly magical. However, they enjoyed the more grown up rides, such as Thunder Mountain and especially the Aerosmith ride! The stunt car show was also a fabulous experience that we all enjoyed. Jim and I tried two rides; the more sedate Buzz Lightyear ride where you shoot various targets and the Space Odyssey ride, which we foolishly thought wouldn’t be too ‘thrilling’ as this was Disney after-all! We were wrong and both sat frozen with our eyes tightly shut until the ‘experience’ was over. The boys loved it, but roller-coasters are not for me anymore! Don’t be fooled in to thinking that every ride is tame. I saw lots of very little children going on these rides. I can’t imagine how they coped, but maybe that’s because at my age I can’t enjoy the feeling of being thrown around and racing down steep declines on such rides. Read more
