Fit Flops ar Fab!

2 July 2008

FitFlop - Walkstar - Red from CloggsI’ve just got my first pair of Fitflops and they are fab! They are so comfortable and look great too. I had read many good things about them and decided to give them a try. I have many pairs of normal flip flops, but find that they’re not really that stylish or comfyfor walking anywhere f any distance.

Fitflops aren’t cheap; about £35 a pair, but they are just like wearing sponges on your feet. They somehow seem to make your feet bounce! As for toning up the legs and bum; I’ll have to wait and see after a few weeks, but so far so good.

Excellent value for money…

… I ordered these taps taps for our kitchen from Tap Centre just over a week ago. They were delivered FREE of charge in a couple of days. The taps were only£44.95 , but look fantastic. I am so pleased I’ve now ordered these taps for our bathroom. Having already bought new taps and a shower this year for the boys bathroom I know how expensive bathroom accessories can be. I can’t fault Tap Centre. The taps are great, the price even better and no delivery charge. On top of all this I got 5% off with their latest discount code.

If you’re looking for bathroom accessories take a look at Tap Centre. You won’t be dissapointed with the products or the price!

A new cure for dogs pulling on the lead?

17 June 2008

I have found what looks like a great new product from Scotts of Stow. It’s this device called a ‘Tweeter’. At a relatively small cost of just £9.95 it claims it can stop your dog pulling on the lead. We have one such dog; Trooper the master at pulling! He has caused some serious shoulder damage with his pulling on the lead. We have thankfully managed to find a cure; a halti.

The halti fits around his head and makes an amazing difference. He really can not pull and for this reason I would not hesitate in recommending it for other dogs who are difficult to control. However, he does find it irritating and ant to try and rub his face constantly whilst wearing it and once it’s removed he rubs his face for a minute or two. The other snag is that he can get out of it if he really wants to, which is dangerous if that’s all you have hold of. You can, however buy halti’s with a strap that also attaches to your dogs collar, which is a must I’d say. You can also buy a link separately for around £1.

The Tweeter is different. It attaches between the lead and the collar and emits a high pitched sound said to be disliked by dogs whenever they pull. This gets away from the halti causing irritaition, but does it work as effectively? I have looked for some reviews, but unfortunately out of 5 reviews there was only one positive. The only complaint is rather a major one unfotunately; the Tweeter breaks easily with severe pulling resulting in a dog completely off the lead. It’s a shame because it sounds like a good idea otherwise. Our dog really is too strong and not to mention stupid! If he found himself off the lead he’d be off and would only return when he was ready, so for us it’s not worth the risk.

It looks like for us we have to stick with the halti collar, which really isn’t a problem.

Buy the Halti collar from:
Pet Supermarket £8.10 - £8.60 or padded £9.20 - £10.20 depending on size.

The toothbrush really works!

16 June 2008

BRAUN 9500 (1) from CometA year ago I spent rather a lot on a new toothbrush. Read here aboout my new purchase! My toothbrush is the Oral B Triumph 9000, which is pretty much the same as this one. It has 4 settings: clean, massage, soft and polish. I use the polish once a week with Colgate weekly clean toothpaste.

The toothbrush has never caused me any problems and continutes to be simple to use. It has a travel case, which is excellent for transporting the toothbrush, which has remained charged for a whole week with no problems. However, the best bit is that my teeth are officially cleaner! We visited the dentist on Friday and yet again I don’t need any treatment. Hurray! I used to have a scale and polsh every visit. I hated them more than any other treatment and found it so uncomfortable that I had to have local anaesthetic. I can’t tell you how pleased I ma not to need this doing. I asked the dentist (just ot be sure, or a glutton for punishment) and she confirmed that there was no need unless I ‘really wanted it’! I don’t think so!

The toothbrushes are expensive when compared to manual toothbrushes, but for the peace of mind and avoiding the dreaded scale and polish, for me anyway, it’s worth every penny.
