Hallowe’en is becoming more and more popular here in the UK. ‘Trick or Treating’ has made it’s way in to children’s lives as have Hallowe’en parties, but what is Hallowe’en?

Hallowe’en or Hallows Eve is celebrated on 31st October. Traditionally the Celts celebrated New Year’s Eve with the festival of Samhain on this date and they believed that with the dark nights of winter came the evil spirits. It is believed that they built bonfires to frighten away these spirits and to bring solice to the lost souls. They also dressed in costumes typically made from animal heads and skins. Read more
