THE Banking crisis!
16 October 2008
I have banked with cahoot for a few years now and have always found their website easy to use and my accounts simple to manage. However, since yesterday (15th October) I have been unable to access my accounts. It is my first job of the day to check my accounts and transfer cash between accounts as and when necessary. Yesterday morning I found I couldn’t log on. I left it for a while incase it was our system or just a glitch, but found that all day I could not log on. I began to get a little frustrated and given the current climate, I felt a slight panic.
Cahoot is part of the Santander Group, so my rational head told me not to worry, but nonetheless I did! I continued to try all day and in to the evening, eventually getting an error message saying the site was down for maintenance or some such thing. This morning it was still down. I was not happy. I emailed cahoot and have finally received a response, which is a copy of the new message on their webiste:
Thank you for contacting cahoot in Coventry.
We apologise that cahoot.com was unavailable yesterday and today (Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16th October).
The site will shortly be up and running and you will be able to see any transactions you made up until 7.30am yesterday (Wednesday 15 October). Any transactions on your account made after that time will have been actioned but may not display yet so please don’t worry. These should be updated over the next 24 hours. Any payments set up to go yesterday or today should be processed as usual.
Once the site is back online and you access your account today, you will be able to use your account as normal. However, transactions may not display instantly but they will be updated over the next 24 hours. Please bear with us as we bring the website back up and running. We are working as quickly as possible to do this.
Cahoot is part of the Santander Group one of the world’s most successful and well-capitalised banks with nearly 70 million customers and remains a safe place for your money.
Once again, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I hope that I have fully answered your query and you are satisfied with my response.
If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Kind Regards,
It is not what I want to hear really. I need to pay my credit card bill today or face charges for late payment. If this is the case I will most definitely not be a happy bunny. I will be furious and will no doubt need to wrangle compensation from cahoot.
Recently I had a problem in that I forgot to transfer cash to cover a cheque and only remembered when the cheque had been presented. Cahoot were kind enough to waive the charge for me. However, the last 24 hours has made me decide to close all of my cahoot accounts and head off back to HSBC or First Direct.
This kind of service is just not good enough when there isn’t a branch to pop in t to discuss problems that really are not of my making. So sorry cahoot, but I’m off somewhere else … as soon as your site is up and running and I can get hold of my money that is!!!
