Swimwear to suit your shape

21 June 2009

Choosing swimwear can be a nightmare. We are all different and so just like clothing, different swimwear styles suit different people. If you’re struggling to find something for the beach or just for at the pool here is a guide to help you and show off your best bits!

Small bust?
Triangle Bikinis and halter necks are perfect for you. The halter neck will draw the eye up and the plunging front will give the illusion of enhancing your cleavage. The adjustable straps will allow you to adjust the tie to suit you and the triangle shape of the top will give you the necessary lift and support.

For further enhancement try horizontal stripes, attractive trims and bows or an aysymmetrical trim. Darker bottoms to your bikini will also add to the effect. For the ultimate boost try a padded or rouched top.

Large Bust?
Go for swimwear with good support and specific cup sizes. Again a halter neck top is flattering, but make sure you have one with thick straps and good support. Try a darker colour for your top to help give a more proportioned figure.

Apple Shape or Problem Tummies?
If you are the classic apple shape with slim arms and legs and a fuller tummy then it’s easy to find the right swimwear! Try swimwear with high cut legs or string ties to show off your legs. Tankinis are also great and could’ve been designed for you. they cover up the tummy area whilst allowing you to roll it up should you want to. If you prefer a one piece swim suit then why not try the Miraclesuit, which has been especially designed to make you look lighter.

Pear shape or problem bum and thighs?

If your hips are wider than your shoulders and you carry your weight around your bum and thighs then you are the classic pear shape. Avoid large bottoms, which rather than hiding your bum, will actually draw the eye to it. Instead try high cut legs to give the impression of longer legs. A regular cut will be the most flattering.Go for a patterned top and dark or plain bottoms to help balance your figure.

Curvy Figure?
Swimsuits or tankinis are ideal for you. Show off your bust with a plunging neckline and use a strapless top to show off shapely shoulders. Plain colours can highlight problem areas so go for bold patterns or darker colours, but avoid horizontal stripes.

Long or short torso?
Both shapes need the same solution here! Swimsuits can be cut too long or too short so go for bikinis or tankinis. Go for high cut legs to elongate your legs.

Athletic figure?
Go for bold colours and stylish designs to flatter your figure. Go for a halterneck top to enhance your bust and try boy shorts to create curves. Bows and ties can add a soft, feminine touch. You’ll also look fantastic in cut out swimsuits.

Hour Glass figure?
If you have a well defined waist and equally proportioned bust and hips then this is you. Bikinis will show off your waist and keeping to one colour will help to keep your figure in proportion. If you have a slender hour glass figure then go for narrow straps or side ties.
