The perfect family get-together
19 February 2008
If like us you have a large family and would like a place to stay where you can all be together for a special occasion then we can recommend Milton Brook Estate near to Chester. We needed a venue for Jim’s 50th celebration and were struggling to find somewhere where the whole family; 31 in total, could stay. The age range for us was 5 to 85 and so it was important to find something for everyone. Milton Brook took some finding, but it ticked all the boxes and more.
The accommodation comprises of 5 cottages, Rose, Mill Barn, Grooms, Dairy and Stable cottages. A sixth, Paddock View is due to open this year and is a new pine lodge for two people.
On site you’ll find a lovely heated swimming pool with changing rooms. Next to the pool is a games room where you can play table football or pool or just sit and relax with a cup of coffee.
After you’re early morning swim why not take a stroll around the 150 acre estate or fish in one of the three lakes. Nearby is the City of Chester where you can walk the walls or spend the day shopping.
The accommodation lends itself to large gatherings and is well equipped with everything you need to have the perfect party. We hired all 5 cottages and held the actual party in Rose Cottage, which has an enormous kitchen as well as large dining and sitting rooms; plenty of space for everyone. The children enjoyed the pool and games room and allowed the grown up to relax knowing our children were safe and nearby. We were all impressed by the comfort and cleanliness of each cottage and the beautiful setting. The walks around the estate and the on site facilities meant that we didn’t have to leave the site, although the nearby Vicar’s Cross golf course had a visit from 2 of our party as did the nearby Stamford Bridge pub for a post golf drink, or so I’m led to believe…
Jim and I left only to take a trip to the nearby supermarket, but we have previously visited the Stamford Bridge pub at the end of the lane. The supermarket speaks for itself - it’s a supermarket! The pub we can recommend. Our golfer’s who ‘popped in’ also recommended the beer. As real ale drinkers it certainly got their vote!
If you’re thinking of visitng Cheshire then this will make the perfect base. Also a short drive away is the North Wales coast. Visit the Milton Brook website for more details on prices and availability and to download their brochure.
