It’s officially upon us

Christmas that is. I wrote a while ago about dreading the moment Christmas takes over;well it has. Our local butcher has a notice saying “12 weeks until Christmas”, which wasn’t strictly true three weeks ago, but it was to “remind people”. Like we need reminding!
Earlier this week we had a delivery, which arrived at 7.30 in the morning. The delivery man explained that this was due to the “Christmas rush”! It’s still September though! Sadly, or so it seems, Christmas has begun. The Christmas goodies have already found their way on to the supermarket shelves. Everything has had to do a move around to accommodate them, which makes shopping a nightmare as I can no longer find anything.
I was getting something from the loft this week and saw the Christmas decorations and wondered if I should be getting them down. I didn’t. It’s just all so confusing. Come Boxing Day it’s all over and the focus is on next summer’s holidays. May be it’s me and I’m getting older, but we seem to be skipping the fun and enjoyment of what’s actually happening and instead are looking to the next thing to do. Having said that I’ve actually bought some presents and the present list is made, so I’m now not jus a grumpy old woman, but a hypocrite too!
Actually thinking about it I’m sure I should be making my Christmas cake…
